The Board of Adjustment receives and considers applications for any variance of the building code in relation to specific projects by property owners and builders within the city.
The board is optimally comprised of no less seven members appointed by the city commission. All members serve without compensation.
Each member is appointed for a term of three years with terms staggered so as to avoid having more than two members' terms expire in any one calendar year. Members may be reappointed by the city commission.
Board of adjustment members are all individuals with knowledge and interest in planning, zoning and the technical codes.
